96″ x 48″ Recycled/reclaimed paint and silver leafing on sailboat sail (sailcloth), stretched over a handmade frame.
With this piece, I wanted to paint an abstract representation of the view you would have if you were sitting on a sailboat and the sail was obstructing your view of the sky and water. This piece uses a second layer of sail (seen in white). I use the existing grommet in the top layer to tie it down to the frame with nylon rope that was reclaimed from the same sail. The two pieces of nylon rope (bottom middle) run through the side of the frame, through drilled holes and additional grommets that I added to the sail. This piece is wired with, cable that was also reclaimed from the sail and attached to the frame using reclaim, brass hanks.
